Data Engineer

The opportunity:

The Modern Data Estate team is part of a bigger team within the Power Platform practice. We offer professional services for customers around the world creating dashboards, reports, custom visualizations as well as custom Azure Integration and Modern Data Estate work.

In this role you’ll work in collaboration with teams at Enlighten Designs to deliver web and software solutions that create exceptional value for our clients.

About you:

As the next addition to our friendly and collaborative team you are a passionate Data Engineer with an excellent understanding of the relationship between data storage and presentation and how this creates value. As part of the Modern Data Estate team, you’ll work within Microsoft Azure to integrate, transform, and consolidate data from various structured and unstructured data systems into Data Lakes and Data Warehouses for building reports and dashboards.

What you’ll be doing day-to-day:

  • Working with customers to extract reporting requirements and understand underlying data sources

  • Creating data models from multiple sources

  • Designing, implementing, monitoring, and optimizing data platforms

  • Designing and maintaining data pipelines and data stores to be high-performing, efficient, organized, and reliable, given a specific set of business requirements and constraints

  • Working with key stakeholders to create data stores for the Data Analysts to build compelling reports and dashboards for our customers

  • Partnering closely with Business Analysts and Data Analysts to identify data sources relevant to solving business problems and help design the optimal combination of data sources and analytical techniques for each problem.

  • Learning the tools to support, train and give product demos to customers

  • Discovery of data sources

  • Working with our Sales Teams to demo different Microsoft technology around Modern Data Estate to our customers.

  • Working with data sets from multiple sources and utilizing tools and techniques to prepare data sources for efficient analysis and insight generation

  • Training and documentation and becoming a subject matter expert in Modern Data

  • Working with customers to discover data sources

  • Contributing to quotes for estimates of requirements for development projects

  • Contributing to the development and delivery of internal projects

  • Maintaining and sharing up to date knowledge of best practice, new Microsoft tools and latest trends.

What would make you ideal:

  • A thorough understanding of the data analytical environment

  • Strong understanding of relational Databases and Kimball Data warehousing concepts

  • 3-4 years of SQL experience

  • Strong software engineering and coding skills, ideally in a data intensive environment

  • Experience working in DevOps and Agile environments

  • The ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

  • The ability to advocate technical positions while still appreciating alternative proposals

  • Excellent command of the English language both verbally and written with the ability to write in a client centric way

  • Good interpersonal/consultation skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Modern Data tools (preferred)
