European Elections bet on Power BI data visualisation with Enlighten Designs

This October POLITICO Europe launched a globally leading Elections Hub to engage voters around the upcoming 2019 European Parliamentary elections. Seeking an innovative data visualisation solution, Politico teamed up with Microsoft's Modern Journalism program and Delivery Partner, Enlighten Designs, to create an engaging, data-driven experience for EU citizens.

POLITICO is digitally transforming their business and creating a data-driven culture. Part of that process involves building the capabilities of all employees, regardless of role and skillset, to tell data-driven stories.
"It’s been incredible to play on the global stage with POLITICO to deliver innovative solutions that drive data-backed decisions in something as important as voter engagement." Enlighten Designs CEO, Damon Kelly.

As part of the engagement with POLITICO, Enlighten Designs created a series of interactive real-time Power BI visuals that distil the complex information around the EU Elections into easily digestible infographics. The European Parliamentary elections span thousands of candidates and hundreds of parties across 27 member nations.

Taking a design thinking approach, Enlighten created a visually stunning visual on the Elections Hub that transforms from a horseshoe visual 'seat view' to a map view of Europe.  The visual is not only eye-catching, but a useful communication tool to help voters easily see how each of the 705 member seats come together from across the EU to form Parliament. The data visualisation is interactive and allows voters to run Parliament seat projections based on the most recent and reliable polling data.

As globally leading experts in Power BI, Enlighten Designs continues to develop its Data & AI practice, including the development of interactive data-driven visualisations that exponentially increase audience understanding and engagement with complex information.
